Getting There

Walking
From the center of Nyagatare, head west on Avenue de la Paix until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading south. Continue walking along RN4 for about 2 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Lake Bunyonyi. Turn left onto this road and follow the signs for Lake Bunyonyi, which is approximately another 3 kilometers away. You will pass through scenic rural areas and may encounter locals. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you will see the beautiful waters and can explore the area.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Nyagatare. Start your journey from the center of Nyagatare and cycle west on Avenue de la Paix. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading south. Continue cycling for about 2 kilometers. Look for the left turn towards Lake Bunyonyi, which is marked with signs. Turn left and continue on this road for about 3 kilometers until you reach the lake. Enjoy the ride as you pass through beautiful landscapes.

Motorbike Taxi
To take a motorbike taxi (also known as 'moto') to Lake Bunyonyi, find a nearby moto stand in the center of Nyagatare. Communicate your destination to the driver by saying 'Lake Bunyonyi'. The driver will take you along Avenue de la Paix, then onto Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading south. After about 5 kilometers, you will arrive at the entrance to Lake Bunyonyi. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to wear a helmet, which is provided by the moto driver.
