Discover the Majestic Nyakayaga Defile

Walking

Start at the Nyagatare bus station. From the station, head south towards Avenue de la Paix. Continue walking straight for about 300 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenue de l'Industrie. Turn left onto Avenue de l'Industrie and walk for another 200 meters until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit at the roundabout onto the Kayonza - Kagitumba Road. Walk along this road for approximately 4 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and homes. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Nyakayaga Defile, which will be on your right side. It is a popular attraction, so locals may also be able to assist you if you need directions.

Bicycle

Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops near Nyagatare bus station. Begin your journey by cycling south on Avenue de la Paix for about 300 meters, then turn left onto Avenue de l'Industrie. Continue cycling for 200 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Kayonza - Kagitumba Road. Cycle approximately 4 kilometers; you will pass various local shops and small communities along the way. Look for signs to Nyakayaga Defile on your right side. The route is relatively flat and straightforward, making it a pleasant ride.

Motorbike Taxi (Moto)

At the Nyagatare bus station, look for motorbike taxi drivers (known locally as 'motos'). Communicate to the driver that you want to go to Nyakayaga Defile, which is located along the Kayonza - Kagitumba Road. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will know the route well, so you can relax and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Once you arrive at Nyakayaga Defile, don't forget to take some pictures of the beautiful landscape!
