Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Nyagatare, start at the Nyagatare Market. Head northeast on Avenue de l'Indépendance for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Route Nationale 5. Cross the road and continue walking straight on Avenue de la Réunification for another 1 kilometer. You will pass a few local shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for the sign that directs to Rukumba Natural Forest, which will be on your left.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local vendors near the Nyagatare Market. Once you have your bike, head north on Avenue de l'Indépendance for about 500 meters. Turn left onto Route Nationale 5 and follow it for approximately 1.5 kilometers. After 1.5 kilometers, look for a small path leading off to the right that is marked with a sign for Rukumba Natural Forest. Follow this path about 200 meters to reach the entrance of the forest.

• Motorbike (Boda Boda)

  Find a Boda Boda driver near the Nyagatare Market. Inform them that you want to go to Rukumba Natural Forest. The driver will take you on Route Nationale 5, which is the most direct route. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off at the entrance of the forest, where you can begin your exploration.
