Start from the center of Ruhengeri. Head south on Avenue du Commerce towards Avenue de la Réunification. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Avenue de l'Indépendance. Turn left onto Avenue de l'Indépendance and walk for about 1 kilometer until you reach the bus station (Gare Routière de Ruhengeri).

At the bus station, look for a shared taxi (known locally as 'matatus') heading towards Kisoro, Uganda. Ask the driver to drop you at the turn-off for Muhavura Volcano. The fare should be around 1,000 Rwandan Francs.
