If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is located near Buhoma. Head south on the main road towards Kisoro. Follow the signs for Kisoro, which is approximately a 2-3 hour drive (around 90 km). Once you reach Kisoro, navigate to the coordinates JJV5+PFW. This will take you to the Virungà Mountain Ranges. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as some roads may be unpaved.
Public Transportation
To reach the Virungà Mountain Ranges using public transportation, first take a matatu (shared taxi) from Buhoma to Kisoro. The matatus leave from the main road and usually run several times a day; the journey takes approximately 2-3 hours. Once in Kisoro, you can hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) or a local taxi to take you directly to the coordinates JJV5+PFW, which is the location of the Virungà Mountain Ranges. Expect to pay around 20,000 to 30,000 UGX for the boda-boda ride.
