Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Kibuye from wherever you are in Western Province. Use the main roads leading towards Lake Kivu. From Gisenyi, take the Nyanza-Kibuye road (also known as the RN 4). The drive will take approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic. As you approach Kibuye, look for signs directing you towards the lakefront. Cormoran Lodge is located near the lake, and you can enter Kibuye town, then follow the signs or your GPS to the lodge's coordinates: Latitude -2.052013, Longitude 29.343219.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location in Western Province to Kibuye. Most buses to Kibuye can be boarded at major bus stations in towns like Gisenyi or Nyamagabe. The fare typically ranges between 1,000 to 2,000 Rwandan Francs, and the journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Kibuye, you can either take a motorcycle taxi (moto) or a local taxi to Cormoran Lodge. The moto fare should be around 1,000 to 2,000 Rwandan Francs. Provide the driver with the lodge's name and they will know the route.

• Boat

  If you are looking for a scenic route, you can take a boat ride from Gisenyi to Kibuye. Boats can be arranged at the Gisenyi port. The cost varies depending on the type of boat and the number of passengers, generally ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 Rwandan Francs per person. Upon arriving at Kibuye, you can hire a moto or walk to Cormoran Lodge, which is a short distance from the lake.
