Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the capital city, São Tomé. Head southeast on Avenida da Independência and continue for about 10 km until you reach the junction for the EN2 road. Turn left onto EN2 and follow the signs towards Pico Cão Grande. Continue on this road for approximately 20 km, passing through the small towns of Trindade and Neves. As you approach the vicinity of Cão Grande Peak, look for signs directing you to the peak. There is a small parking area at the base. Note that a small parking fee may be applicable, around 5,000 STN.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at the central bus station in São Tomé. Look for a minibus heading to Neves or Trindade, which should cost around 1,500 STN. Inform the driver you want to get off at the Cão Grande Peak area. The ride takes about 40 minutes. Once you reach Neves, you may need to walk about 5 km towards the peak, or if available, you can hire a local taxi for about 10,000 STN to take you directly to the base of Cão Grande Peak.

If you prefer a more adventurous approach, consider hiking from the nearest town. From Neves, you can follow local trails towards Cão Grande Peak. The trailhead is marked and is approximately a 5 km hike. Ensure you wear sturdy hiking shoes and carry enough water. This hike can take about 2 hours depending on your pace. The local guides in Neves may also offer guided tours for a fee, typically around 20,000 STN, which includes transportation and local insights.
