I came to Dakar to celebrate a milestone birthday. I did not expect to leave transformed. This tour combining Le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine and the Museum of Black Civilizations, was one of the most powerful and enriching experiences of my entire trip, and I have my exceptional tour guide Pape to thank for that. Standing at the base of the African Renaissance Monument is one thing. Understanding what it represents, the continent's resilience, its rebirth, its unapologetic declaration of greatness is another. This scooter tour was truly one of the highlights of my time in Dakar. It was such a unique and authentic way to experience the city, and I got to see places and discover stories I would never have found on my own. A Little Dakar Magic!

Time was rubbery on this colourful and arty zoom around Dakar. I asked respectfully to avoid as many shopping stops as possible, so we had more time at the artists workshop, the mosque, and the monuments. But the true highlights were the beachside foodstop - incredible local spicy fish dish - and an unexpected drop-in to a cliffside reggae bar to watch the sun go down. Magic. Zey was a great guide, full of knowledge and fun.
