Car
If you are travelling by car, start your journey from the nearest town or location within Stara Planina Mountain. Use a GPS device or a map app and enter the coordinates: Latitude 44.1291667, Longitude 20.5433333 for Rudnik. Follow the main roads leading out of the Stara Planina region towards Majdan. Depending on your starting point, you might need to navigate through smaller roads, so be cautious and watch for signposts indicating Majdan. Parking is available at the base of the mountain.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, first take a bus from your location in Stara Planina to the nearest major town, such as Pirot or Niš. From there, you can find regional buses heading towards Majdan. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary. Upon arriving in Majdan, you may need to take a taxi or walk to the base of Rudnik, which is approximately 5 km from the bus station.
Taxi
Once you reach Majdan via bus, if you prefer not to walk, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to Rudnik. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The taxi ride should not cost more than 500 RSD (around 5 euros) for a one-way trip, depending on the driver.
Walking
If you choose to walk from Majdan to Rudnik, head north from the bus station following the main road. The path is well-marked, and you will see signposts directing you to the mountain peak. The walk is about 5 km and may take approximately 1-1.5 hours. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
