    Walking

    From Bugis MRT Station, take Exit B and head towards Victoria Street. Walk straight until you reach the junction with Rochor Road. Cross the road and continue straight onto North Bridge Road. Keep walking until you reach the junction with Hill Street. Here, turn left onto Hill Street and continue until you reach the Singapore River. You will see the Raffles Hotel to your right. From there, follow the riverbank south until you reach the Esplanade Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue walking straight. Eventually, you will reach the Johor Bahru Causeway. Note that you will have to get to the Causeway, and from there, you can take a bus or taxi to Johor Bahru. The Istana Besar is located in Taman Istana, Johor Bahru, approximately 30 minutes from the Causeway.

    Public Transport

    From Bugis MRT Station, take the East West Line towards Pasir Ris. Alight at the Tanah Merah MRT Station and transfer to Bus 35 at the Tanah Merah Bus Interchange. This bus will take you directly towards the Johor Bahru Checkpoint. After passing through customs, take a local taxi from the checkpoint to Istana Besar Royal Abu Bakar, which is approximately a 15-minute drive.

    Combination of Walking and Public Transport

    Start at Bugis MRT Station and take the Downtown Line towards Expo. Alight at the Bugis station. From there, walk to the nearby Bugis Junction and take Bus 961 or 170 from the bus stop located next to the mall. This bus will take you to the Johor Bahru Checkpoint. After crossing into Malaysia, you can take a quick taxi ride to Istana Besar, which is about a 10-minute drive from the checkpoint.
