From the Tatras region, you will want to head towards the city of Bratislava. The quickest route is to take the D1 motorway. Start by driving south from any point in the Tatras towards the town of Poprad, where you will connect to the D1 motorway. Continue on the D1 for approximately 2.5 hours, following signs for Bratislava. Once you arrive in Bratislava, take the exit towards 'Centrum' and follow the signs to the city center. Use GPS coordinates 48.1421086, 17.1002348 for direct navigation to Bratislava Castle. There may be parking fees in the city center; expect to pay around €1 to €2 per hour.
Public Transportation
To reach Bratislava Castle from the Tatras using public transport, start by taking a train from Poprad to Bratislava. The train journey takes about 3 hours and tickets usually cost around €10 to €15. Upon arriving at Bratislava's main train station (Bratislava hl. st.), exit the station and take tram number 1 or 5 towards the city center. Get off at the 'Hlavná stanica' stop, and transfer to tram number 4. Ride for two stops and disembark at 'Bratislava, Zochova' stop. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk to Bratislava Castle. Follow the signs leading uphill towards the castle, which is located at Hrad, 811 06 Bratislava. Ensure you validate your tram ticket before boarding, as fines for traveling without a valid ticket can be steep.
