• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Vysoké Tatry, which is well-signposted from major Slovak cities. From Poprad, take the E50 road heading east. Follow the signs for Vysoké Tatry, and upon entering the town, continue towards the village of Tatranská Lomnica, which is one of the main gateways to the High Tatras. There are parking facilities available; however, some areas may charge for parking, so be prepared with some Slovak currency.

• Public Transportation - Train

  For those using public transportation, you can take a train to Poprad from various cities in Slovakia. Once you arrive at Poprad station, transfer to the local train (Tatranská elektrická železnica) that runs directly to several stops in the High Tatras, including Tatranská Lomnica, Štrbské Pleso, and Stary Smokovec. The fare from Poprad to Tatranská Lomnica is typically around €2-€3. Make sure to check the train schedules in advance as they may vary.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  Buses also run frequently from Poprad to the High Tatras. You can catch a bus from the Poprad bus station to Tatranská Lomnica or other destinations within the High Tatras. The bus fare is similar to the train, approximately €2-€3. Buses are a good option if the train schedule does not align with your arrival times.

• Local Transport - Cable Car

  Once you are in Tatranská Lomnica, you can take the cable car to the Lomnický štít, which is one of the highest peaks in the High Tatras. Tickets for the cable car can cost around €20-€30 for a round trip, depending on the season. It's advisable to book your tickets in advance during peak tourist seasons to avoid long waits.
