It is a short walk (approximately 15 minutes) to reach the entrance of the hiking trail at Šmarna gora.

If you prefer to walk from the city center, head north towards the Ljubljanica River and cross the Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most). Continue straight on Cankarjevo nabrežje, then turn left onto Špica.
