Great museum, it was good fun for both adults and children. We were there for over 2 hours and we did not want to leave. A must see if you are in the area

Ljubljana Castle: Entrance Ticket

Could have stayed there all day - wish we’d gone earlier!

A beautifully kept castle - all modern additions are architecturally interesting. We spent the afternoon there, but wished we’d gone earlier in the day as there was so much to do. Highlights for my son (under 10) were the virtual castle show - a 15-min 3D cinema show about the castle’s history - and the puppet theatre. He spent hours in the puppet theatre putting on his own shows in the mini theatres they have there, and watching the footage of Slovenian tv puppet shows and stop-motion animation. There was lots to look at just wandering round the castle buildings and grounds. The museum was also interesting, and a good size to dip into as part of a wider castle visit. All of these things were included as part of the castle entry ticket, as well as the funicular ride up to the castle. We ended up staying up on the hill even longer than expected as there was an evening gig in the moat - lots of people had brought picnics and drinks up with them to hang out for the evening. We didn’t get a chance to wander on the hill, or visit the viewing tower, but would have done if we’d had more time.
