Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Hout Bay Main Beach area, head east along the beach promenade until you reach the entrance of Chapman's Peak Drive. This is approximately a 10-15 minute walk. Once you reach Chapman's Peak Drive, turn left and follow the road upwards. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers (approximately 20-25 minutes), keeping to the left side of the road for safety. You will eventually see the signs for East Fort, which is located within Table Mountain National Park.

  • Public Transport (MyCiTi Bus)

    You can take the MyCiTi bus from Hout Bay to the East Fort stop. Board the bus at the Hout Bay bus station and take the route towards the Hout Bay Valley. The fare is approximately R10 (check current rates) and the journey will take about 20 minutes. Once you get off at the East Fort stop, walk up the path that leads to the Cook House, which is just a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Bicycle

    For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from local shops in Hout Bay. Once you have your bike, head towards Chapman's Peak Drive. It's approximately a 5-10 minute ride from the Hout Bay beach area. Keep in mind that the road can be steep, so make sure to be cautious.
