If you are driving, take the N2 highway towards Port St Johns. When you reach the town, follow signs for First Beach. Once in Port St Johns, head towards the beachfront area. You can park your car in the designated parking spots near the beach. Please note that parking may incur a small fee, typically around R20.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus to Port St Johns from major cities like Durban or East London. Once you arrive at the Port St Johns bus terminal, you can either walk to First Beach (approximately 2 kilometers) or take a local taxi (known as a 'taxi') which will cost about R10-R20 per person. If you choose to walk, head towards the beachfront area, following the coastal road until you reach First Beach.
Taxi
If you are already in Port St Johns and need to get to First Beach, local taxis are available. Simply ask any local or at your accommodation for the nearest taxi rank. A short ride to First Beach will cost around R10-R15 per person. Make sure to agree on the fare before getting in.
Walking
If you are staying close to the beach or in a nearby guesthouse, walking to First Beach is a great option. From the center of Port St Johns, head towards the coast and follow the main road that leads to the beachfront area. The walk is scenic, taking approximately 20-30 minutes, and allows you to enjoy the local scenery along the way.
