From downtown Charleston, head to the nearest bus stop on Meeting Street. Take the Kanawha Valley Regional Transit Authority (KVRTA) Bus #12 towards the Kanawha State Forest. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Kanawha State Forest' stop. From there, walk about 0.5 miles along McGhee Drive until you reach the Mary Draper Ingles Trailhead, which will be on your left.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in downtown Charleston. Head south on Meeting Street towards the Ashley River. Continue until you reach the West Virginia Turnpike (I-64). Use the bike path along the highway to reach McGhee Drive. Once you arrive at McGhee Drive, follow it straight until you reach the Mary Draper Ingles Trailhead.
