Walking
If you are starting from the Charleston Visitor Center, exit the center and head south on Meeting Street. Walk straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach Broad Street. Turn left onto Broad Street and continue walking for another 0.3 miles. You will pass several historic buildings and shops along this route. Once you reach East Bay Street, turn right and walk for about 0.2 miles until you reach Legare Street. Turn left onto Legare Street. Sword Gate House will be on your right at 32 Legare Street.

From the Charleston Visitor Center, walk to the nearest bus stop located at 375 Meeting St. Take the CARTA bus (Route 10) towards 'North Charleston'. Ride for about 10 minutes and get off at the stop 'Calhoun St. at East Bay St'. From there, walk south on East Bay Street for about 0.2 miles until you reach Legare Street. Turn left on Legare Street, and Sword Gate House will be on your right at 32 Legare Street.
