Getting There

• Car

  From Congaree National Park, head northwest on SC-48 toward the exit for I-77. Merge onto I-77 N and continue for about 10 miles. Take exit 2 for US-1 S toward Augusta. Continue on US-1 S for approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto Old State Road. The Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve will be on your left at 634 Old State Rd, Cayce, SC 29033. Please note that parking may be limited, so plan accordingly.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can catch a bus from the nearest bus station in Columbia, SC. Look for the bus route that goes towards Cayce. Once you arrive in Cayce, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile to reach the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve at 634 Old State Rd. Be sure to check the local bus schedule for availability and fares, which typically range from $1.50 to $3.00 per trip.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, biking is an option. Start from the park entrance and head northwest on SC-48 until you reach I-77. From there, take the bike path that runs parallel to US-1 S. Follow the bike lane along Old State Road, which will lead you directly to the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations.

• Walking

  If you're feeling energetic and are staying nearby, you can walk to Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve. Starting at the park entrance, walk along Old State Road. It is approximately a 1.5-mile walk from the park to the preserve. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, especially on warm days.
