Bicycle
Start your journey from the center of Hilton Head Island. Head south on Pope Avenue until you reach the intersection with Mathews Drive. Turn right onto Mathews Drive and continue until you reach the traffic circle. Take the first exit onto William Hilton Parkway (US 278) and continue west for about 30 miles until you reach Savannah. Once in Savannah, follow signs to the downtown area. The Georgia State Railroad Museum will be on Louisville Road, just a short distance from the downtown area.

From your location in Hilton Head, walk to the nearest bus stop on William Hilton Parkway. You will need to take the Palmetto Breeze Transit bus to the nearest transfer point. Once there, switch to a bus heading towards Savannah. The trip will take approximately 1.5 hours. After arriving in Savannah, disembark at the nearest stop to the Georgia State Railroad Museum, which is located at 655 Louisville Rd. Follow the signs to the museum; it’s a short walk from the bus stop.

If you're in the vicinity of the beach area in Hilton Head, take a scenic walk along the shoreline heading towards the south end of the island. Continue walking until you reach a bike path that leads to the marina. From the marina, you can take a ferry to Savannah. When you arrive in Savannah, it's a short walk to the Georgia State Railroad Museum located on Louisville Road. Follow the signs and local maps to guide you there.
