Start at the Custer County Courthouse located at 420 Mt Rushmore Rd, Custer, SD. Head north on Mt Rushmore Rd (also known as Highway 16) for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with US-385. Cross the street and continue onto US-385 northbound. Walk along the shoulder of the road, being cautious of traffic, for approximately 10 miles. You will pass through scenic views and small roadside attractions. Once you reach the intersection with Cosmos Rd, turn left and continue walking for about 1.5 miles. The Cosmos Mystery Area will be on your right at 24040 Cosmos Rd, Rapid City, SD.

Begin at the Custer County Courthouse at 420 Mt Rushmore Rd, Custer, SD. Ride north on Mt Rushmore Rd (Highway 16) for about 0.3 miles, then turn left onto US-385 northbound. From the Custer Visitor Center at 1012 Mt Rushmore Rd, walk to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of Mt Rushmore Rd and 6th St. Take the Black Hills Aerial Adventures shuttle (check the schedule for exact timings). The shuttle will take you to a stop near US-385. From there, walk north on US-385 for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Cosmos Rd. Turn left onto Cosmos Rd and walk for about 1.5 miles to arrive at 24040 Cosmos Rd, Rapid City, SD, where the Cosmos Mystery Area is located.
