    Start at the center of Custer, at the intersection of Mount Rushmore Road and 5th Street. Head south on Mount Rushmore Road for about 0.5 miles until you reach US-16A. Continue straight on US-16A, which will turn into SD-244 as you enter the Black Hills National Forest. Follow SD-244 for approximately 15 miles. As you approach Mount Rushmore, you will see signs directing you to the parking area for the Presidential Trail. The trailhead is located near the visitor center.

    From downtown Custer, make your way to Mount Rushmore Road and head south towards US-16A. Follow the bike lane along Mount Rushmore Road for about 1 mile until you reach the junction with US-16A. Continue straight onto US-16A and bike along SD-244 for about 15 miles. Be cautious as you navigate through the scenic areas; there may be some hilly sections. Look for signs directing you to the Mount Rushmore parking area upon approaching the monument.
