Walking
From the center of Custer, head south on 5th Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Highway 16/385. Turn left onto Highway 16/385 and walk along the shoulder. Keep walking south for approximately 1 mile until you reach the entrance to Custer State Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs for the Hazelrodt Picnic Area, which is located about 2 miles further into the park. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!
Biking
Starting from the Custer County Courthouse, head south on 5th Street. Turn left onto Highway 16/385, and continue biking for about 1 mile. Enter Custer State Park by following the signs. Once inside the park, you will bike approximately 2 miles to reach the Hazelrodt Picnic Area. Be sure to enjoy the beautiful landscape and wildlife as you make your way there!
Hiking
If you prefer hiking, you can start from the Custer County Courthouse. Take 5th Street south until you reach Highway 16/385. Cross the highway and enter Custer State Park. The trail to the Hazelrodt Picnic Area is well-marked and is about 2 miles from the park entrance. Enjoy the natural beauty and take your time exploring the area!
