Start at the Mitchell City Center. Head north on Main Street until you reach the intersection with East 2nd Avenue. Turn left (west) onto East 2nd Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with South Dakota Highway 37. Turn right (north) onto Highway 37. Follow the highway for approximately 2 miles. Look for the entrance to Lake Mitchell on your left. There are bike racks available near the lake.

Begin at the Mitchell Public Library located at 221 N 7th St. Walk south on 7th Street until you reach the intersection with East 2nd Avenue. Turn right (west) onto East 2nd Avenue. Continue walking straight until you hit South Dakota Highway 37. Cross the highway carefully at the designated crosswalk and continue walking north along Highway 37 for about 1.5 miles. Lake Mitchell will be on your left. The path is mostly flat and accessible.
