From Mount Rushmore, head south on SD-244 towards US-16. Follow the walking path to the visitor center exit. After exiting, turn right onto US-16. Continue walking for approximately 4 miles until you reach Custer. Once in Custer, turn left onto Mt Rushmore Rd (also known as SD-89). The 1881 Courthouse Museum will be located on your right at 411 Mt Rushmore Rd.

If you have a bike, start by biking south on SD-244 from Mount Rushmore. Follow the road until you connect with US-16. Continue biking on US-16 for about 4 miles into Custer. When you arrive in Custer, take a left onto Mt Rushmore Rd (SD-89). The 1881 Courthouse Museum will be on your right at 411 Mt Rushmore Rd.
