From Rosebud, head northwest on SD-27 N toward US-18 W. Continue on SD-27 N for about 14 miles until you reach the junction with US-18 W. Turn left onto US-18 W and continue for approximately 40 miles. Merge onto I-90 W and travel for about 20 miles. Take exit 245 for SD-34 W toward Fort Pierre. After exiting, continue on SD-34 W for about 7 miles until you reach Fort Pierre. Turn right onto Verendrye Dr, and the monument will be on your right. There are no tolls on this route, and parking is typically available near the monument.

Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly from Rosebud to Fort Pierre. However, you can take a bus from Rosebud to the nearest major city, which is Pierre.
