By Car
If you are traveling by car, start from your location in Costa Brava and head towards Blanes. Use the AP-7 motorway, which connects major towns along the Costa Brava. Take exit 9 towards Blanes and follow the signs for the city center. Once in Blanes, follow Carrer de València and Carrer Cardenal Vidal i Barraquer. There is a parking area near the entrance to the Castell de Sant Joan. Be aware that parking may incur a fee, typically around €1-2 per hour.
By Public Transportation
To reach Castell de Sant Joan by public transport, first take a train from your location to Blanes. The train service is operated by Renfe, and you can check the schedules on their website. Upon arriving at Blanes train station, exit the station and look for bus line 1, which goes towards the city center. Get off at the bus stop closest to the castle. From there, it’s a short walk uphill to the castle. Expect to pay around €5 for the train ticket and approximately €1.50 for the bus fare.
Walking from Blanes
If you prefer to walk from the center of Blanes, head towards the beach and take the scenic route along the coastline. The walk to Castell de Sant Joan takes about 30-40 minutes and offers beautiful views of the Costa Brava. Follow the signs leading up to the castle. Wear comfortable shoes as the path can be steep in places.
