Car
If you are driving, the Alcántara Roman Bridge is accessible via the EX-205 road. From the city of Cáceres, take the A-66 highway towards Salamanca. After approximately 70 km, exit onto the EX-205 towards Alcántara. Follow the signs for Alcántara, and after about 25 km, you will arrive at the town. The bridge is located just outside the town center, and there is parking available nearby. Be aware that there may be a small parking fee, typically around 2-5 euros.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Alcántara by public transportation, take a bus from Cáceres to Alcántara. Buses are operated by ALSA and run several times a day. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Alcántara bus station, the Roman Bridge is about a 15-20 minute walk from the station. Follow the signs towards the bridge, or ask locals for directions. Ensure to check the bus timetable for return trips, as services may be limited, especially on weekends.
Walking
If you are already in Alcántara, walking to the Roman Bridge is a delightful option. From the town center, head west towards the river. It is approximately a 1.5 km walk and should take around 20-25 minutes. Follow the signs towards 'Puente Romano' (Roman Bridge) as you walk along the scenic paths. Enjoy the beautiful landscape as you approach this historical landmark.
