Getting There

• Walking

  From the central square of El Mercadal, head south towards Carrer de la Barca. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Carrer de la Cort. Turn left onto Carrer de la Cort and walk until you reach Plaça de la Independència. Cross the square and continue on Carrer de l'Argenteria. Follow this street until you reach Carrer de la Merced, where you will take a right. Continue straight ahead and walk towards the intersection with Carrer de la Força. The Monument als defensors de Girona el 1808 i 1809 will be located just a short distance ahead on your left, at the end of Carrer de la Força.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  If you prefer to take public transport, you can catch a bus from El Mercadal to the nearest stop. Look for the bus line that heads towards 'Plaça de la Independència.' Once you arrive at the stop, disembark and walk towards Carrer de la Força, following the directions outlined above. Bus tickets typically cost around €1.50 each way, and you can purchase them from the bus driver.

• Bicycle

  For those interested in cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in El Mercadal. Once you have your bike, head south on Carrer de la Barca. You can follow the same route as mentioned for walking, but cycling will allow you to reach the Monument als defensors de Girona el 1808 i 1809 faster. Ensure to park your bicycle in designated areas near the monument.
