Metro
From Salamanca, head to the nearest metro station, which is 'Santiago Bernabéu' on Line 10. Purchase a metro ticket from the vending machines (approximately €1.50). Take the train towards 'Puerta del Sur' and get off at 'Chueca' station. Change to Line 5 (green line) and travel towards 'Casa de Campo'. Get off at 'Retiro' station. From there, it’s a short walk to Puerta de Alcalá.
Bus
Locate the nearest bus stop in Salamanca and check for lines that go towards 'Retiro'. You can take Bus 19 or Bus 21. The ticket will cost around €1.50, which can be purchased directly from the driver. Once you arrive at the stop 'Plaza de la Independencia', you will find yourself right at Puerta de Alcalá.
Walking
If you prefer to walk and the distance is manageable, start from the center of Salamanca and head towards 'Calle de Velázquez'. Continue straight until you reach 'Calle de Goya', then take a left. Follow this road until you reach 'Plaza de la Independencia'. This route should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace.
Taxi
If you would like a more direct route, consider taking a taxi. You can find taxis at designated taxi stands around Salamanca. The fare to Puerta de Alcalá should be around €10-€15 depending on traffic. The taxi service is convenient and allows for a comfortable ride directly to your destination.
