After approximately 15 kilometers, look for a sign indicating the turnoff to Nuwaragala Mountain (you may need to ask locals for specific directions as road signs may vary). Turn onto the gravel road leading to the mountain. Continue along this road for about 2 kilometers until you reach the base of Nuwaragala Mountain. There is a small parking area where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Ampara bus station heading towards Pottuvil. The bus fare is typically around 50 LKR. Inform the conductor to drop you off at the nearest stop to Nuwaragala Mountain. Once you get off, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers along a dirt path towards the mountain. Walking
If you're already near the mountain (for example, if you are staying in a nearby guesthouse), you can walk to the base of Nuwaragala Mountain. The terrain may be rough, so wear comfortable shoes. From the base, it takes about 30-45 minutes to hike to the summit, where you can enjoy stunning views.
