Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city such as Anuradhapura or Polonnaruwa. Follow the A9 highway towards Dambulla. From Dambulla, take the A6 road towards Kandy. After about 35 km, take a left onto the B335 road towards Sri Palabaddala. Continue straight until you reach the village of Sri Palabaddala. You may need to ask locals for specific directions to Mapalana Ella Falls as it is a bit off the main roads.
Public Transportation
To reach Mapalana Ella Falls using public transportation, take a bus from your current location in the Dry Zone to Dambulla. From Dambulla, look for a bus heading towards Kandy and inform the conductor to drop you off at Sri Palabaddala. The fare will be approximately 100 LKR to Dambulla and another 50 LKR to Sri Palabaddala. Once you arrive at Sri Palabaddala, you can either walk or hire a tuk-tuk to take you closer to the falls. The tuk-tuk ride should cost around 200-300 LKR.
Tuk-Tuk
If you've reached Sri Palabaddala by bus, you can hire a tuk-tuk for a more direct route to Mapalana Ella Falls. When you arrive in the village, look for tuk-tuk drivers near the bus stop. The fare to the falls is usually around 300-500 LKR, depending on your negotiation skills. The tuk-tuk will take you as close as possible to the entrance of the falls, from which you may need to walk a short distance to access the site.
Walking
Once you are near the falls, follow any signs or ask locals for the best walking path to Mapalana Ella Falls. The walk should take approximately 10-15 minutes from the nearest drop-off point. Be prepared for a bit of a hike, as the terrain can be uneven and may require some climbing.
