Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Ella Railway Station. Exit the station and turn right onto the main road (B522). Walk straight along this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach a junction. At the junction, you will see a small sign pointing towards Dematamal Viharaya. Follow the sign and take a left turn. Continue walking for about 500 meters, and you'll find Dematamal Viharaya on your right. The temple is located on a hill, so be prepared for a slight incline.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Ella, find a tuk-tuk stand, which are commonly found around the town center. Inform the driver that you want to go to Dematamal Viharaya. The ride typically takes around 5 to 10 minutes, depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the entrance of the temple. Make sure to agree on the fare before you start the ride.
