From the center of Ella, head towards the Ella Railway Station. Exit the station area and walk along the Main Street, passing by local shops and eateries. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Hela Kithalella Road. Turn left onto Hela Kithalella Road and follow this road for approximately 1 km. You will see signs directing you to Mahathenna Pathana. The path will be slightly uphill, and you may pass a few local houses along the way. Stay on the main road until you see the entrance to Mahathenna Pathana on your right.

If you prefer a quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Ella town. Simply approach any tuk-tuk driver and inform them that you would like to go to Mahathenna Pathana. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will take you along the Main Street and onto Hela Kithalella Road, where they will drop you off at the entrance of Mahathenna Pathana. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.

For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Ella. Start from the town center and cycle towards the Ella Railway Station. Once you pass the station, head straight along the Main Street. After a short distance, turn left onto Hela Kithalella Road. Cycling on this road is quite scenic, and you will encounter beautiful views on your way. Continue for about 1 km, and you will find Mahathenna Pathana on your right. Be cautious of the uphill sections as you approach the destination.
