Walking
From the center of Ella, head towards the Ella Rock trailhead, which is near the Ella Railway Station. After arriving at the station, take a left onto the main road (A23). Walk straight for about 1.5 km until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork onto the road leading to Badulla. Continue walking for approximately 2 km along this road until you see signs pointing towards Hangiri Ella. Follow the signs for another 1 km, and you will reach Hangiri Ella, which is located near the coordinates WX74+QQV.
Trekking
If you enjoy trekking, you can hike from Ella to Hangiri Ella. Start at the Ella Rock trailhead and follow the trail up the mountain. After reaching the summit, descend towards the Badulla side, following the signs for Hangiri Ella. This route is more challenging and may take around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace. It's advisable to have a local guide with you for safety and navigation.
Public Transport
From Ella, you can take a bus heading towards Badulla. Buses frequently depart from the Ella bus station. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Hangiri Ella or the nearest stop. The journey will take around 30 minutes. Once you get off, you may need to walk about 500 meters to reach Hangiri Ella, following the signs or asking locals for directions.
