Experience Ravana Waterfall

Getting There

  • Walking

    Start your journey at the Ella Railway Station. Exit the station and head towards the main road, which is the A23. Turn left onto the A23 and walk straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by several shops and cafes along the way. Look for signs indicating Ravana Waterfall. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach a crossroad where you can see a sign pointing towards Ravana Waterfall. Turn right onto the Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway (R3R3+CWP). Continue walking for another 1.5 kilometers, and you will see the waterfall on your left. There are some steps leading down to the waterfall area.

  • Tuk-tuk

    From anywhere in Ella, find a tuk-tuk by going to the main street near the Ella Railway Station or by asking your hotel to arrange one for you. Inform the driver that you want to go to Ravana Waterfall. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of the waterfall area, which is located along the Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway. Once you arrive, there will be a small entrance fee to access the waterfall.

  • Bicycle rental

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many shops in Ella. Start your ride from the center of Ella and cycle towards the Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway (R3R3+CWP). Follow the main road for approximately 2 kilometers. Be cautious as the road can be busy with vehicles. Once you reach the sign for Ravana Waterfall, park your bicycle and walk down the steps to reach the waterfall area.
