Getting There

Walking
If you are in Galle Fort, begin at the main gate of the Fort and head south towards the Galle Railway Station. It’s about a 30-minute walk. From the station, continue straight and turn left onto the Main Street. Walk along Main Street until you reach the junction with the Dondra Road. Turn right onto Dondra Road and follow it for about 3 kilometers. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Dondra. As you approach Dondra, follow the signs leading to the Port Access Road where Dondra Head is located.

From Galle Fort, you can easily find a tuk-tuk at various points around the Fort. Tell the driver you want to go to Dondra Head. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Be sure to confirm the price before you start your journey. The driver will take you directly to the Port Access Road, where Dondra Head is located.

From Galle, walk to the Galle Bus Station, which is about a 10-minute walk from Galle Fort. Look for buses heading to Dondra; they are frequent and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you reach Dondra, ask the conductor to let you know when to get off for Dondra Head. After getting off, it's just a short walk to Port Access Road where Dondra Head is located.
