Getting There

    From the Galle Fort, head southeast on Church Street until you reach the junction with Main Street. Turn left onto Main Street and continue straight until you reach the Unawatuna Junction. Here, take the right fork onto the Unawatuna Road. Follow this road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and restaurants on your way. When you reach the beach area, continue until you see Jungle Beach Road on your left. Turn left onto Jungle Beach Road and walk for about 500 meters. The Japanese Peace Pagoda will be on your right, set on a hill with stunning views.

  • Tuk-tuk

    Find a nearby tuk-tuk stand, which are commonly located at major tourist spots like Galle Fort or Unawatuna Beach. Once you board the tuk-tuk, tell the driver you want to go to the Japanese Peace Pagoda on Jungle Beach Road. The ride will take approximately 15 minutes, and you will enjoy views of the coastline along the way. The driver will drop you off at the foot of the hill leading up to the pagoda, from which point you can walk a short distance to reach the entrance.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Galle. Start your journey by cycling out of the Fort area towards the Unawatuna Road. Follow the road for about 1.5 kilometers. As you approach Unawatuna, look for the sign for Jungle Beach Road and turn left. Cycle up this road for about 500 meters; the pagoda is located on a hill to your right. You may need to lock your bike at the base and walk up the hill to reach the pagoda.
