Car
If you are driving from the center of Matara, head north on Galle Road (A2) towards Unawatuna. Continue for approximately 10 kilometers. As you approach Unawatuna, look for signs indicating Rumassala Sanctuary. Turn left onto a smaller road marked with signs for the sanctuary. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance of Rumassala Sanctuary. Be mindful of parking options available at or near the entrance.

To reach Rumassala Sanctuary via public transport, catch a bus heading to Unawatuna from Matara Bus Station. Buses are frequent and the fare is quite affordable (around 50-100 LKR). The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Unawatuna, disembark at the Unawatuna bus stop. From there, walk towards Galle Road (A2) and look for signs pointing towards Rumassala Sanctuary. It's about a 15-minute walk uphill from the bus stop to the sanctuary entrance.
