Car
From Kitulgala, head northwest on the A7 road towards the town of Ginigathena. After approximately 4 kilometers, look for the sign for Dedugala on your right. Turn onto the road leading to Dedugala, which is well marked. Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the area. As you approach Dedugala, keep an eye out for local signs directing you towards Nalagana Falls. There is a small parking area near the falls where you can leave your vehicle. Note that the road may be narrow and winding, so proceed with caution.
Public Transportation
From Kitulgala, take a local bus heading towards Ginigathena. Buses run frequently, and the fare is quite affordable (around 50 LKR). Inform the driver that you want to get off at Dedugala. Once you arrive in Dedugala, you might need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to reach Nalagana Falls. Local maps may be available at the bus station, or you can ask nearby residents for directions. It is advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path may be uneven.
Walking
If you are already in Dedugala, you can walk to Nalagana Falls by taking the main road and following any provided signs. The distance from the main road to the falls is approximately 1-2 kilometers. The path may include some steep sections, so be prepared for a bit of a hike. It’s a good idea to carry water and wear suitable footwear. Ask locals for specific directions if you are unsure.
