Car

If you are driving from Matale town, head southwest on the Matale - Dambulla Road (A9). Continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach a junction. Turn left onto the Balakaduwa Road. Follow this road for approximately 3 kilometers, and you will see signs directing you to Balakaduwa Ella. There is a small parking area near the entrance. Ensure you have enough fuel as there are limited facilities nearby.

Public Transportation

To reach Balakaduwa Ella using public transport, start from Matale bus station. Take a local bus heading towards Dambulla. Inform the bus conductor that you want to get off at Balakaduwa. The fare is around LKR 50-100 (approx. $0.25-$0.50). After approximately 20-30 minutes, get off at the Balakaduwa junction. From there, it’s a 15-minute walk along Balakaduwa Road to reach Balakaduwa Ella. Be cautious as the road can be narrow and not pedestrian-friendly.

For a more comfortable and quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Matale town. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around LKR 500-800 (approx. $2.50-$4.00) for a one-way trip.
