Getting There

    From the center of Matara, head north towards the Matara Bus Station. Once at the station, find a local bus heading to Unawatuna. The bus ride should take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Unawatuna, get off at the main stop. From there, walk towards Jungle Beach Road. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the Japanese Peace Pagoda on your left.

  • Tuk-tuk

    Find a tuk-tuk near the Matara Bus Station. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Japanese Peace Pagoda in Unawatuna. The ride will take around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the entrance of Jungle Beach Road, from where you can walk to the pagoda, which is about a 10-minute walk along the scenic path.

  • Cycling

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop in Matara. Start your journey by cycling towards the coast and following the signs to Unawatuna. The route is approximately 5 kilometers and will take about 30 minutes. Once you reach Unawatuna, continue on Jungle Beach Road until you see the Japanese Peace Pagoda on your right.
