Walking
From the center of Matara, head east on Matara - Hambantota Main Road (A2). Walk towards the Matara Bus Stand. Once you reach the bus stand, look for buses heading to Rekawa or Tangalle. It’s a short 15-20 minute bus ride to Rekawa. Alight at the Rekawa bus stop, which is located near the main road. From the bus stop, walk straight down Rekawa Road for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach Rekawa Beach.
Tuk-tuk
If you prefer a quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Matara. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Rekawa Beach. The ride will take about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the beach entrance on Rekawa Road.
Bicycle
If you enjoy cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Matara. Head towards the Matara - Hambantota Main Road (A2) and follow it east. After approximately 3 kilometers, turn onto Rekawa Road. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the beach. This journey will take around 30-40 minutes depending on your cycling speed.
