Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in Matara town center, start by walking towards the Matara Bus Station. From the bus station, head towards the coastal road (Galle Road). Once you reach Galle Road, turn left and walk along the road for about 3 kilometers. You will pass the beautiful coastline on your right. Keep walking until you reach a junction where Weligama By Pass Road intersects with Galle Road. Turn right onto Weligama By Pass Road, and continue walking for about 1 kilometer. Weligama Beach will be on your left side, look for the signs as you approach.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    Find a tuk-tuk near your location in Matara. Tell the driver to take you to Weligama Beach. The driver will likely take you via Galle Road. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on a fare before starting your ride, which should typically range from 300 to 500 LKR. Upon arrival, you will see Weligama Beach right in front of you.

  • Public Bus

    Walk to the Matara Bus Station and look for a bus going to Weligama. Buses to Weligama are frequent and will cost around 30 LKR. Once you board, the bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Stay alert for the Weligama stop, and when you get off, walk towards the beach area. The beach is just a short walk from the bus stop, approximately 5 minutes.
