Car
If you're driving a car, start from the center of Moneragala town. Head east on the A4 road towards Badulla. After approximately 10 kilometers, you'll need to turn left onto the Kirawanagama road (this is a smaller road, so keep an eye out for local signage). Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach Kirawanagama. The Galpoththa waterfall is located just off the road. Look for a small sign indicating the waterfall and park your car nearby. The walk to the waterfall from the parking area is about 500 meters, and the path can be slightly rugged, so wear appropriate footwear.
Public Transportation
To reach Galpoththa waterfall via public transport, take a bus from Moneragala town to Badulla. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station. After about a 30-minute ride, disembark at Kirawanagama bus station. From the station, you can hire a tuk-tuk to the waterfall (this should cost around 300 LKR). Alternatively, you can walk the remaining 2 kilometers from the station; just follow the Kirawanagama road until you see signs for the waterfall. Be prepared for a short walk from the drop-off point to the waterfall itself.
Tuk-Tuk
If you're in Moneragala and want a more direct route to Galpoththa waterfall, consider hiring a tuk-tuk. This is a convenient option if you prefer not to drive or navigate public transport. You can find tuk-tuks near the Moneragala bus station or arrange one through your hotel. The ride to Kirawanagama will take about 20 minutes and should cost approximately 600-800 LKR. Make sure to confirm the fare beforehand. Once you arrive in Kirawanagama, your driver can drop you off close to the entrance of the waterfall, ensuring an easy access to this beautiful site.
