Getting There

    If you are driving from Moneragala town, head north on the A4 highway towards Wellawaya. Continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach Poonagala. At Poonagala, turn left onto the Colombo - Batticaloa Highway (A5). After about 10 kilometers, look for a sign indicating the Upper Diyaluma Waterfall. You will need to park your vehicle in the designated parking area nearby, which may incur a small fee (approximately LKR 100-200). From the parking area, follow the marked trail which is about a 30-minute hike to reach the waterfall.

    From Moneragala bus stand, take a bus heading towards Wellawaya. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Get off at Poonagala. From there, you can either take a tuk-tuk (which costs around LKR 300-500) to the nearest point on the Colombo - Batticaloa Highway or walk about 2 kilometers to reach the highway. Once at the highway, look for signs directing you to Upper Diyaluma Waterfall. The final leg to the waterfall involves a 30-minute hike from the parking area.
