If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Negombo. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Independence Square in Colombo. The journey will take about 40 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on a fare before starting your journey.

From Negombo, walk to the Negombo Railway Station, which is about 1-2 km from the main beach area. Take a train heading towards Colombo Fort Station. The train ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Colombo Fort Station, you can either take a tuk-tuk or walk to Independence Square, which is about 2.5 km away. If walking, head towards the Colombo City Centre and then follow the signs to Independence Avenue.
