Getting There

  • Bus

    From Negombo town, head to the main bus station located at the junction of Station Road and Sea Street. Look for buses heading towards Katunayake. Buses are frequent and cost around 40 LKR. Board the bus and notify the conductor that you want to get off at the 20th Mile Post, which is a well-known stop for the Shrine. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the 20th Mile Post stop, walk along the main road (A3) in the direction of Katunayake for about 10 minutes. You will see the Shrine on your left.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Negombo, you can easily find a tuk-tuk by waving one down or asking at your hotel reception. Tell the driver to take you to the Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake, located at the 20th Mile Post. The ride should take around 20 minutes, and the fare will typically range from 300 to 500 LKR, depending on your starting point. Keep in mind to negotiate the price before starting your journey.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in a nearby area (within a few kilometers), you can walk to the Shrine. Start by heading towards the main road (A3). Follow the A3 road towards Katunayake. The Shrine is located at the 20th Mile Post on the left side of the road. It should take you about an hour to walk there, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
