Getting There

    If you are starting from the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum, head east on the Main Street (A11 road) towards the ancient city area. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance to the ancient city. Once inside, follow the signs towards the Gal Vihara, a well-known site. From Gal Vihara, continue walking along the path for about 800 meters. You will see Menik Vehera to your left, marked by signs along the way.

    If you have rented a bicycle, start from the Polonnaruwa bus station. Head east on the Main Street (A11 road) and cycle towards the ancient city area. Upon reaching the entrance to the archaeological site, park your bicycle and continue on foot. Follow the signs to Gal Vihara, then cycle to Menik Vehera, which is approximately 800 meters from Gal Vihara. You will find Menik Vehera on your left.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Polonnaruwa, find a nearby tuk-tuk stand or call a tuk-tuk using a local ride-hailing app. Ask the driver to take you to Menik Vehera.
