Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Ratnapura town and head towards the A4 highway. Continue on the A4 for about 10 km until you reach the junction for the B178 road. Turn left onto B178 and continue for approximately 5 km. Look for the sign indicating the entrance to Makeli Ella Waterfall. The road may become narrow and rough near the waterfall, so be cautious. There’s no fee for parking.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Ratnapura to Kelinkanda. Buses leave frequently from the Ratnapura bus station and the fare is approximately LKR 50. Once you arrive in Kelinkanda, you can either walk to the waterfall, which is about 1.5 km away, or hire a local tuk-tuk for around LKR 300. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the entrance of Makeli Ella Waterfall.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from Kelinkanda to Makeli Ella Waterfall, follow the main road until you see signs directing you to the waterfall. The walk is scenic and takes about 20-30 minutes. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven.
